This is set in a small town in the USA that is besieged by monsters every night. The monsters look human, except when they attack, and their ploy is reminiscent of the one in Salem's Lot .
Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) is the town's Sheriff. Yes, the guy from the show about a creepy island is now the lead in a show about a creepy town. The big difference is that this show is shot in Nova Scotia, Canada, so the beautiful scenery of Hawaii is not evident.
A new family drives into town in an RV. They were diverted because a large tree had fallen in the road, and a flock of crows circled above it. However, when they try to leave town the road just curves back in itself - like In The Mouth Of Madness .
Night has fallen, trapping Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) in the crashed RV. Kristi ( Chloe Van Landschoot ) the paramedic is intent on removing the spike from the young boy's leg, even though this would increase his chances of bleeding out.
The mother and her daughter Julie Matthews ( Hannah Cheramy ) get shelter in the Colony House commune. Donna ( Elizabeth Saunders ) gives the mother some exposition, while Fatima ( Pegah Ghafoori ) shows the daughter the view from the highest room. Although there is no visible light beyond the town limits, the town inself is somehow still on the power grid.
One of the townsfolk is a murderer. Voices made her do it, apparently as a plan to save the townsfolk.
It is the morning after, and the new family have to choose. Will they stay in Colony House, or join the villagers?
Jade (David Alpay), the high guy from the car, thinks that he is in a prank setup full of role-players. He goes around looking for clues, as if the village were an Escape Room . He might even find some, since nobody knows how the amulets work. It turns out that a nearby storm-cellar might be involved.
Frank Pratt broke the village's only rule, since his carelessness got his family killed. Now he must face the only punishment - one night in a horse-box without a protective amulet. Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) is unhappy about the situation - he intended the horse-box as a deterrent, but now his bluff has been called.
This starts with a flashback of a young boy who lived in the storm-cellar that Jade found. He turns out to be Victor, the strange man in Colony House.
The new family's young boy also believes their time in the village is a sort of magical quest. He is the one with precognition of some sort, possibly linked to Victor. They have both seen the creepy boy who lives in the woods. Now Victor wants to look for the creepy boy together.
Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) cleans up the mess after Frank's punishment. It has been a stressful few days for him.
Sara Myers ( Avery Konrad ) thinks she has been getting messages that tell her to murder certain people in order to prevent bad things happening in the future. Now she goes after her next target.
Jade (David Alpay) finds the local bar. The barman is a former philosophy lecturer who has started brewing potato vodka, and compares the townsfolk to Shroedinger's Cat. If Jade can get the radio working, he can let people outside know what happened.
The preacher has the seer in custody ... He wants to know if the voices she hears can be proven as real. Somehow, the voices knew about his secret 1950s chocolate bar. How long ago did he leave Earth?
Jade (David Alpay) takes Jim, the only other engineer in town, on a mission to test the radio. They visit the tallest tree in the area, and Jim climbs up to fit an antenna. While this happens, Jade has a vision of some mutilated bodies from the US Civil War. He also sees the mysterious symbol again.
The Preacher tells Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) about the suspect tied up in his basement. To put things in context, he also explains how he ended up trapped in the town.
Colony House holds a big party for a member's anniversary. Not everyone is really feeling in the mood. Kevin has been leaving bunches of flowers for Jasmine ( Molly Dunsworth ) ... one of the monsters.
The new family's girl hangs out with Victor. He has an escape plan involving one of the magic trees.
The survivors are trying to cope with the aftermath of the Colony House events. Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) decides the best approach is to explore the forest again. He has flashbacks to his arrival in the town. His wife Abby ( Lisa Ryder ) is with him, and we finally see the tragic events that wrote her out of the story before Episode One.
Most people are working on the tower, although a few people are cynical about what they see as just another bound-to-fail escape plan. Jade (David Alpay) cannot work out how to power the transceiver. The houses have electricity, but it only works in the light sockets and not the wall sockets. Despite his expertise in electrical engineering, he seems unaware of the fact that early domestication did not involve wall sockets - the appliances were designed to plug into the light sockets.
Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) and the suspect have reached the next stage of the quest.
Jade (David Alpay) gets the tower built on top of Colony House. The good news is that the transceiver works. The bad news is that, just like when the bunker was opened at the end of Lost: Season One , this asks more questions than it answers.
Tabitha Matthews ( Catalina Sandino Moreno ) continues her own plan, to find out where the electricity is coming from. There are still two other mysteries - where Victor the magical thinker went, and where the monsters come from.
Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) and the suspect have reached the next stage of the quest. His wife Abby ( Lisa Ryder ) makes a reappearance of sorts. They discover the source of the strange noise that sounds like a foghorn.

Viktor agrees to tell Jade about the man in the polaroid. The price is that Jade must play the violin for him, in the town's creepy graveyard of abandoned cars. Yes, finally they are trying to solve the mysteries. In contrast, both Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) and the engineer's wife Tabitha Matthews ( Catalina Sandino Moreno ) have known about tunnels under the townland, but neither of them has mentioned it to anyone.

One of the Colony House residents gets stabbed in an accident. The result is a medically realistic incident, starting with the victim's automatic response of removing the knife. This means the victim starts to bleed to death, so the others must take him to the clinic ... after dark, when the monsters are already on the prowl. Worse, the only blood available for transfusion is contaminated.
Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) oversees the necropsy of the creature.

The engineer starts talking with Randall. They plan to use a toy drone to elevate the aerial in the hope of getting the radio working again.
Jade and the wife go looking for Viktor. After all, he is the one who knows the most. He has been holding out on a few things.
There may be a way to kill the monsters. However, as of the previous episode a few of the survivors have threatening dreams. Yes, a bit like in Under The Dome the threat level is being increased. Since Randall is a conspiracy theorist, he thinks that this might all be a setup. Truman Show , anyone?
Dreams can kill you, so nobody can go to sleep. In the long run, sleep deprivation will drive them insane. A man whose wife died is already unhinged.
Kenny the Deputy is left guarding Sarah the killer.
Sheriff Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau - Lost ) goes looking for Randall and the others. The bad news is that they get trapped in the camper van overnight. The good news is that this is a good chance to test the new weapon on the monsters.

Jade meets the ghost barman, who talks him into exploring the cave of monsters.
Tabitha talks Victor into guiding her into the woods. She wants to save the children from the lighthouse, and the easiest way to get there is through a faraway tree. Luckily, the bottle tree is special and goes directly there. This could have saved Boyd and Sarah a hike in Season One.
At Colony House, Boyd's son and pregnant fiance have their wedding. However, a crazy man with a gun is on the loose. Nobody even checked to see that the weapons were properly locked up. How long will it be before there is a massacre bigger than when the monsters attacked in the first Season?
