The girls are all happy and unharmed.
However, Archie has escaped and goes on a kill-crazy rampage.
None of the main girls are in real danger, of course -
the killer only targets supporting characters,
most of whom are male.
Months later, it turns out their ordeal has been catalogued
on a website named SpookySpaghetti.
This seems incredibly dated, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly the reference to CreepyPasta,
which would be more appropriate ten years ago.
Secondly, in the era of Social Media
would a bunch of sixteen-year-olds still use a website?
The girls are having group therapy with a shrink,
Dr Anne Sullivan (
Annabeth Gish
). There is also a new serial killer in town,
who calls herself Bloody Rose.

They discover that Bloody Rose may be after them.

This particular test is Pain Tolerance.
The obvious suspect has always been Dr Anne Sullivan (
Annabeth Gish
). However, it turns out that she only cares about money.
Yes, someone working in the for-profit US healthcare system
is interested in maximising their income.
For some reason, the girls are shocked to discover this.
A white guy who works at the swimming pool
tells his Black boss girl that
she does not need to be the best at everything all the time.
Naturally, she challenges him to an arm-wrestling contest -
and somehow wins.
Later, the white boss who works at the cinema
tells his Black girl that
she does not need to support a racist film festival.
Naturally, she challenges him to a movie-making contest.
Yes, this is all a horrific display of a
winner-takes-all zero-sum-game mentality.

Chapter Sixteen: Hell House

The religious community has rented a local house
and is conducting an interactive theatre event in it.
The theme is on sins,
many of which the PLL clique have been involved in.
Instead of taking these as cautionary tales,
the girls instead regard it as victim-blaming.
They plan to gatecrash the event.
Bloody Rose is still around.
The obvious suspect is now Chip's mother.
After all, she has been traumatised
by the sadistic behaviour of the PLL clique.

Dr Anne Sullivan (

) is back on the suspect list.
It turns out she had a son once,
and he was murdered - presumably by Archie Waters.
The bisexual Latinx gets caught cheating.
In a fit of rage, her cuckolded boyfriend punches a hole in the wall.
In revenge, she smashes up his expensive car.
It must have been her favourite wall!
The Black cinema girl gets a promotion.
Her offensive rant at her boss, a grown man,
has inspired him to follow his dream and get a job in Hollywood.
He is supposed to apologise to her for being a good boss.
Meanwhile, the Black swimming-pool girl
has to justify bullying her minions and being a bad boss.

Chapter Eighteen: Final Exam

The suspect list is widened to include boyfriends.
Well, the lesbians and people of colour are clearly above suspicion.
The CIS het White males are a different matter.
Bloody Rose has an army of followers.
Are they the religious fanatics from the church,
or the jock-alpha team from the swimming pool?
Well, the PLL clique have made so many enemies,
because they are just a gang of bullies.
And somehow, the average teenage girl is a better fighter
than the average serial killer.
Without giving too much away,
the killer's motivation is similar to that of the more recent
Scream Franchise
films.
The final scene leaves this open for yet another Season.
