[Season 1 !Season 2 !Season 3 !Season 4 !Season 5 !Season 6 ]
This was directed by Russell Mulcahy , whose career started so well in the 1980s and has been in permanent decline ever since. He was last seen directing the third Resident Evil Film, which gives him a status slightly above that of B-movie Eurotrash schlockmeister Uwe Boll . In all fairness, this TV show should bring him to the level of Kevin Williamson , whose career has risen from nothing (due to a ten-year retirement) in a couple of years. Scream 4 successfully rebooted the film series, and Vampire Diaries is on its THIRD Season. That said, can we compare Highlander With Dawson's Creek?
A clueless teenage boy named Scott (who looks like the kid from Kyle XY ) and his comedy sidekick named Stiles (who is the brains of the pair) discover a dead woman in the woods. The protagonist gets bitten by a mysterious beast, and he later develops strange symptoms.
A new girl named Allison ( Crystal Reed ) arrives at school, and our hero falls for her. But in a predictably ironic twist of fate, her father (JR Bourne - Stargate SG-1 ) is the leader of a gang of Hunters.
Our hero, Scott, gets picked for the school sports team. Also, things hot up between the hero and his girl. But the adrenaline and testosterone bring out his wolf side. Can he control his animal instincts?
Scott and his sidekick investigate the bisected woman's corpse.
This ep was directed by Russell Mulcahy .
Our hero, Scott, has nightmares about someone being attacked on a bus. Was he responsible, or was it the new guy in town? The answer sets up the next step in the Season arc.
Our hero goes bowling with his GF Allison ( Crystal Reed ) for a double-date ... With the suspicious jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ).
Derek the creepy werewolf guy (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) chases after the Alpha, even though he knows the Hunters are waiting for a shot at him. Jill Wagner shoots the silly SOB with a poisoned bullet. He will be dead in a day or two, unless he gets the cure.
Our hero, Scott, goes to his GF's house for a study-date. This is the perfect opportunity to do some snooping.
The Alpha is on the prowl. He attacks the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ), who is still infected with wolfsbane.
Our hero, Scott, and his GF Allison ( Crystal Reed ) head off to a hunting cabin in the woods. Back in town, Stiles (the comic relief character) manages the cleanup.
Our hero, Scott, has to learn how to control his powers. It has something to do with his emotions and heartbeat, so Stiles borrows the team coach's heart-rate jogging monitor.
Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) discovers who the Alpha might be. But when they set out to lure the monster, have they got what it takes to trap it?
Our hero, Scott, and his sidekick are trapped in the school. The Alpha is not working at random. He has a plan, and that includes sending a text message to the GF Allison ( Crystal Reed ) to lure her into the trap!
For a show named after a comedy film, this is serious, suspenseful and scary. Like Season One of Supernatural .
The protagonist has been dumped, so he goes all red kryptonite. It is a full moon, the Alpha's influence is stronger than ever, and Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) is nowhere to be seen (on the run as a suspected murderer).
This allows for some great character development for the supporting characters.
The Alpha is after the High School Chemistry teacher. It turns out that Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) had a couple of clues all along, things his sister told him before she was murdered. One of them is the teacher's name. The other is a picture of the Argent medallion that the Hunter's daughter Allison ( Crystal Reed ) wears.
Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ) is closer to the truth than ever. But the Hunters know there is another Beta in town, and they think it might be him.
Stiles hides Derek, and helps him track down the Alpha. It might be someone with links to the local hospital. There are two mysteries to be solved: Who is the Alpha, and who burned down Derek's home when he was a child?
The Alpha reveals himself to Scott. He tries to get to the kid through his mother, who actually gets a few lines this episode!
The hunters are closing in on Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) and the others.
Allison ( Crystal Reed ) follows her aunt's hints.
Stiles' dad, the Sheriff, makes a link between the Alpha's victims. They were all involved in the massacre of Derek's family. But will he work out that it was the hunters' fault?
It is the night of the School Formal. Stiles takes the mathematician babe, but the Alpha wants to makes an example of someone.
Jill Wagner works out who the Teen Wolf is. And she plans to show Allison ( Crystal Reed ) the horrible truth.
Everyone ends up at the ruins of Derek's house for a final battle.
The show is back, with a spiced-up opening credits sequence. This episode was directed by Russell Mulcahy himself, so is visually a notch above the average TV show.
Our hero, Scott, and his GF Allison ( Crystal Reed ) have to sneak around, like Romeo and Juliet. Her mother keeps a close eye on her. Her father and his friends are still hunting at night. Worse, Grandpa Gerard (Michael Hogan - BSG 2003 ) comes to town with reinforcements.
The new Alpha is building a pack of his own. Lydia ( Holland Roden ) was wounded last Season, and now goes MIA from the hospital. Was she infected by something other than a werewolf? Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ), the school bully, returns from his summer vacation - with a painful nosebleed. Is his body fighting The Bite?
The Hunters start their new plan, which involves replacing the school's old headmaster.
One of the other boys on the Lacrosse team is a new member of Derek's pack. The boy's father gets murdered by some monstrous entity, And the new wolf-boy is taken in by the cops for questioning. They can hold him for 24 hours, but it is a full moon! The Hunters send an assassin to kill the boy in custody. Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ), Stiles and the Hunter girl race to stop him.
Our hero, Scott, must control his own impulses at the full moon. But he discovers there is something worse than werewolves on the loose.
Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ), the school bully, wants to videotape himself transforming. Naturally, something is bound to go wrong.
Allison ( Crystal Reed ) forgot a vital piece of evidence in the previous episode, and it comes back to haunt her. Worse, something is hunting the hunters.
Grandpa Gerard (Michael Hogan - BSG 2003 ) is nowhere to be seen, but Mrs Argent has her suspicions about Allison and wolf-boy. She takes steps to see what they are up to.
We meet the school's outcasts. One is an epileptic girl ( Gage Golightly ) whose medication causes acne. As opposed to being a teenager, that is. All she needs is a makeover. However, Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) is trawling for new recruits to his pack.
Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ) did not transform, and discovers he may be immune. He was infected with the babe's blood, and she was bitten by an Alpha. Now she has waking dreams about the Alpha.
The reptilian shape-shifter claims another victim. Much like the Alpha last Season, it is taking specific victims instead of feeding randomly.
Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ) and Lydia the Maths girl ( Holland Roden ) are both suffering disturbed sleep patterns. They are both suspects, but they might have even worse problems. The town Vet (Seth Gilliam - The Walking Dead ) also has links to the Hunters - he knows more about the town problems than he let on.
Scott has dinner with Allison's family. Can he fool Grandpa Gerard (Michael Hogan - BSG 2003 )?
The school team plays a LaCrosse match. Grandpa is Headmaster, he has to attend. But can the THREE werewolves on the pitch keep their cool?
Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) sends his pack out to test suspected Abominations. Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ) is their first target. But Lydia the math babe ( Holland Roden ) is still having waking nightmares about her sire - something is definitely wrong with her, and she is the next best suspect. The heroes have to protect Lydia, they take her to Jackson's house ...
Jackson gets his minions involved in recovering the missing footage. But they get suspicions of their own.
Derek sends the blonde girl to seduce Scott.
Last Ep the guys discovered who the Abomination was. They still have to stop it from claiming its next victim - while avoiding the gun-toting hunters.
The small town has a very popular gay-bar. Also strange is how the municipal CCTV cameras (including ATM cams and the new CCTV at school) are networked and run by the Hunters!
Can our heroes keep the Abomination prisoner?
We learn a couple of new things about the monster. It only targets murderers - And it is not in search of a FRIEND ...
The Canima takes another victim. Whoever its master is, they have a list of victims. And they are not afraid of doing some killing of their own.
The Sheriff puts our heroes on a leash, they must stay fifty feet from Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ) at all times. Jackson is in denial, but the Canima is taking over his subconscious. And then they all end up in detention together. But it is not as much fun as the Breakfast Club.
Scott's mom cracks down on him as well. It seems light-hearted when she frantically searches his room - but instead of finding werewolf stuff, she finds a box of condoms. And then she tells Allison's psycho-mom.
Lydia ( Holland Roden ) meets her new friend again. The music is reminiscent of Twin Peaks , which is at odds with the rest of the ep. But we discover why she is different from the others ...
Stiles' dad, the sheriff, discovers the victims all had a connection. Scott discovers that the next target will be at a Rave party.
Allison brings the Hunters. And her mom wants Scott dead.
Stiles' dad is suspended as sheriff. If the town council attempts to replace him, what are the chances the Hunters will put forward a candidate?
Lydia the redhead ( Holland Roden ) holds a party. Our heroes turn up, and as with every social gathering they attend, things start to go wrong. Someone spiked the punch with a powerful hallucinogen which makes the victim relive their fears.
The Hunter bitch has been bitten, and is under orders to commit suicide rather than transform. A pity the heroes never told her that there might be a cure.
The arch-villain has a plan to return. This may be entirely separate from the Canima's plan, for revenge on the school's 2006 Swim Team.
The good guys go to the Police Station, to get evidence against the killer. They end up getting besieged. This show is turning out more like Harper's Island.
It is the night of the big game. Grandpa Gerard (Michael Hogan - BSG 2003 ) is revealed for the arch-villain we always knew he was, and now he has the Canima on his side.
Derek's pack want to split up. But the Hunters are patrolling the woods. And Allison ( Crystal Reed ) is on the warpath.
This is the big face-off everything has been building up to. But it is not a three-way fight everyone thought it would be.
Stiles tries to protect Lydia ( Holland Roden ). But the truth is, she still wants Jackson the Jock (Colton Haynes - Arrow ). Why, after the way he has repeatedly dumped her, is not apparent.
The ending sets up the villains for Season Three.
The town Vet's sister ( Bianca Lawson ) rescues Isaac the junior werewolf, who has been captured by the Alpha Pack. However, a couple of Alphas follow them. This pair are identical twins who can merge.
Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) has bigger problems. He wants to get a tattoo to celebrate getting over Allison Argent ( Crystal Reed ). Unfortunately normal tattoos are impossible, since he just heals from the needle-marks.
Stiles attends a party, where the girl who invited him has an agenda of her own. The good news is that she only wants to lose her cherry to him. The bad news is that one of the town's creepy monsters has its eyes on her.
The town Vet (Seth Gilliam - The Walking Dead ) helps the wolves to look for the missing pack members. He does not mention that his own sister ( Bianca Lawson ) is also missing, after she was searching for Scott in the previous episode.
Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) and Derek (Tyler Hoechlin - Superman and Lois ) try to hunt down the feral werewolves. Even with Isaac's help, they are outmatched. Luckily Mr Argent still has the skills and weapons of an expert werewolf-hunter.
Since they do not have to kill the ferals, only keep them busy until sunrise, the plan is to lure them into the school. After all, most of the show is already set there. Why build new sets when they can just re-use existing ones?
Lydia ( Holland Roden ) discovers a dead body. She calls Stiles to help, and he starts an investigation of his own.
Scott McCall (Tyler Posey) still works for the town Vet (Seth Gilliam - The Walking Dead ). Naturally, this works into the plot. Another victim gets abducted, presumbaly as part of the serial-killer whodunnit plot.
The Alpha Twins have been attending the High School since the first episode. Now they finally get to do something. Isaac finally recognises them, which leads on to a daylight transformation fight reminiscent of something from Mortal Kombat . The Alphas Twins do their two-in-one trick again. Just like The Incredible Hulk , they take their shirts off but somehow keep their pantaloons on.
Stiles continues his investigation into the murders. He suspects the serial killer is a druid, conducting human sacrifices. This whodunnit plot is quite suspenseful, compared to the cheap OTT action scenes.
The good news is that Derek has his sister back. The bad news is that, like in Under The Dome , the show-runners had to kill off one female character in order to introduce a new one. Yes, Gage Golightly gets written out of the story almost off-screen.
Most of the male cast are on a school bus, driving to a sports match. Their team has an unfair advantage, since four of the players are werewolves. Unfortunately Scott is severely injured, and his wound is not healing. This functions as a bookend sequence, as we see a series of flashbacks that show how Scott was injured. Worse, they believe Derek to be dead.
Earlier that week, Scott discovered where the Alphas were living. It turns out they moved into the penthouse of the same apartment building that the surviving Argents had moved into. Derek plans to attack and kill the Head Alpha. Of course, this means ignoring the fact that the invaders have been several steps ahead of everyone else. It is clearly a setup for a trap.
In 1977, an Argent books into a Motel in California. The Argent has been bitten by a werewolf Alpha. Of course, as a werewolf hunter he would rather die than turn.
In 2013, over thirty-five years later, the Beacon Hills school bus arrives at the same motel. Lydia and Allison have tagged along, apparently abandoning their car at the truck-stop. The werewolves in the group start to act strangely.
Lydia discovers the motel has the record for the greatest number of suicides. She also discovers that her supernatural powers allow her to hear ghosts when nobody else can. Is the motel a strange ghostly suicide zone, or did someone spike the team with wolfsbane?
The regulars are all back in Beacon Hills, as if the previous two episodes did not happen. There has been a multiple-car pile-up, which means the local hospital is over-stretched. Worse, the Druid is now targeting healers. Scott assumes his mother, a nurse, will be the next victim. He forgets that the town Vet (Seth Gilliam - The Walking Dead ) also fits the target demographic.
The Alpha pack blame Derek for the death of one of their own. Rather than take advantage of his presumed death, and leaving town or hiding out, he just hangs out in his normal home that the villains have already successfully attacked.
In the climax, we get a flashback of Gage Golightly . It was tragic enough that she got written out of the story almost off-screen, but at least now we get her belated death scene.
Stiles and Derek's sister turn to the creepy uncle to find out Derek's backstory. It turns out that Derek's first love was Paige Krasikeva ( Madison McLaughlin ), and their love story has a tragic ending.
Meanwhile, Scott and Allison visit Grandpa Gerard (Michael Hogan - BSG 2003 ). He has terminal cancer, and needs Scott's werewolf mojo to keep it at bay. In return, he tells the tweens a story about how Ducallion lost his sight. It was in the same time-frame, eight years previously.
These stories are told by untruthful narrators, who embellish their stories to make themselves less complicit. Of course, the audience know that because the on-screen flashbacks do not match up with the narrration.
The pre-credits sequence has a deputy turn up to the school at night. Yes, they are set up to be the next sacrifice. Unfortunately the showrunners missed a couple of opportunities. The deputy is an African-American woman, so she should have been allowed a conversation with Bianca Lawson . This would pass the Bechdel test twice - once for the regular version, and once for the person-of-colour one.
Stiles has to tell his father, Sheriff Stilinski, the truth about all the unsolved murders in town.
The Duroch is hunting for the final set of three sacrifices. However, now the Duroch's identity will be revealed. Since this show has a limited budget and cast, there is really only one suspect.
Derek has the Duroch as his prisoner. She is the only one who can cure his sister, who is the last patient in the now-evacuated hospital. Now she must heal the sister, since the last ambulance will leave in half an hours time.
Ducallion and the Alpha Pack turn up, eager to kill the Duroch before she kills them. Derek's pack try to keep the Duroch alive. Scott's mother the nurse gets caught in the middle.
This show has a limited budget, so it tends to re-use the same sets a lot. The previous episode was centred around the school, while last Season had a die-hard episode in the police station.
Derek and his sister decide to leave town. The Duroch goes looking for Derek, and gets ambushed by the Alpha Pack. Unlike in the previous episode, she clearly has the upper hand against them.
Scott, Stiles and Allison undergo a druidic ritual. Each has a partner to bring them back from the dead - Scott has the vet (Seth Gilliam - ), Stiles has Lydia ( Holland Roden ) and Allison has Isaac. Yes, the show is pushing the Allison/Isaac romance. That said, Lydia is still with one of the bisexual twins so it could just be a friendship thing.
Scott teams up with Ducallion against the Duroch. Unfortunately Derek has agreed to be the Duroch's protector. The showdown is timed to occur with the lunar eclipse that temporarily removes the werewolves' power.
Stiles is having waking nightmares, Scott seems unable to control his transformations, and Allison is having visions of Aunt Kate. The Vet reveals that this is a side-effect of the vision quest they undertook together in the previous episode.
Stiles' father (the Sheriff) is under investigation by Scott's father (an FBI Agent) because of his inability to close all the unsolved murder cases. Stiles and Scott try to help out by solving a werewolf killing that was written off as natural causes. Yes, even more unsolved murders.
Scott uses his super-power to run down a wolf. This ignores the fact that a real-life wolf's power to run quickly comes from its four legs. Similarly, a spider's danger-sense ability comes from it having eight eyes, not a magical Peter Tingle.
