Quantum Leap Quantum Leap [Season 2, Episode 19] Leaping in Without a Net - November 18, 1958

This is reviewed in our special supplement!

For some reason these new repeats do not have the tag they had on the first run - one assumes that BBC also bought the syndicated version which can be shown in any order. Not only is this a pitiful waste of licence-payers' money, it is also butchery of the programme itself. The tag gave continuity between episodes, and better allowed the viewer to understand the disorientating effects the leaps had on Sam.

The Dark Side shows its age by giving us the young Danny Aiello as a bookie and the young Tom Noonan as a mysterious gambler. This is a surprising turn-out for such a depressingly second-rate series - and this show is much better than average because of it. The script is reasonable, too - although the dialogue is somewhat stilted and the twist in the end is predictable ...
